The Imperialists Are Still Alive!
Zeina Durra 2009 | U.S. Dramatic Competition, First Feature, Political, World Premiere
Yeah, I liked this dark movie because I liked the characters....I could feel something for them. I think it was a pretty accurate portrayal of NY post 9/11 for many Arab-ethnic Americans...within a certain genre of course.

GASLAND
Josh Fox 2009 | U.S. Documentary Competition, Political, Environmental, World Premiere
Astounding material but needs some editing and of course someone to focus the camera....all said ..Josh Fox deserves a standing ovation for bringing us to the plate and getting some accountability for this "frackenstein".

The Oath
Laura Poitras 2010 | U.S. Documentary Competition, Political, World Premiere
Indeed a polarizing film but for me I was riveted by Abu Jandal and did not find him a 'narcisstic psychopath' ! In fact the film showed him to be wise, kind, thoughtful, and committed...a devout Muslim....yeah and no more self-righteous than those of us who demonize Muslims. I absolutely loved this film. Thank you Laura.
