Nowhere Boy
Sam Taylor Wood 2009 | Premieres, Music
Good movie. I had a hard time buying the actor as John Lennon though since he looked nothing like him.

Welcome to the Rileys
Jake Scott 2009 | U.S. Dramatic Competition, World Premiere
Decent enough movie but probably the most overhyped of the festival that I've seen so far. I wasn't sold on Gandolfini's character as a broken but caring fatherly type and Kristen Stewart's performance was classic Kristen Stewart, it's her only style... I still bought her as a young runaway who was stripping and hooking for money though. She looks the part and that mattered a lot. Melissa Leo stole the show. I don't know if it's just because she is a great actress or because she was given the best scenes of the movie. I would have liked to seen the movie cut down a little more. It dragged in the beginning and I honestly didn't care much about the affair between Gandolfini and the waitress. That could have all hit the floor or been done differently to make the beginning of the movie not drag so much.

The Tillman Story
Amir Bar-Lev 2009 | U.S. Documentary Competition, Political, Sports, World Premiere
Takes us as close as we'll get to knowing the truth about what happened to Pat Tillman. This document tears apart the military version and shows how congressional hearings lead to nothing but CYA.
