2010 Sundance Film Festival

this documentary unfortunately doesn't match its subject matter. the engaging and progressive Benazir Bhutto is a great story of charismatic leadership. this film drags on in places and allows many people to comment on her life but it's not easy to decipher their agendas so it's not always clear if they are stating what should be taken as fact or what should be open to question. maybe it's a little too much to ask that a biopic of Bhutto last less than several hours, but if the filmmakers want the viewer to appreciate the need for Americans to understand this part of the world better, this film needs perhaps a less linear travel through Bhutto's life.

the child actors made this film work. this nice story works on screen with those big earnest eyes and kids that hit just the right emotion in places. Taika does a great job in his role as the father as well.
