Peepli Live
Anusha Rizvi 2009 | World Cinema Dramatic Competition, First Feature, Political, World Premiere
Good insight into the poor side of India, and funny look at the shallowness of media and corruption of politicians.

The Imperialists Are Still Alive!
Zeina Durra 2009 | U.S. Dramatic Competition, First Feature, Political, World Premiere
New York in all its multicultural glory, lightly overlaid with the threat of repression or worse for those of the "wrong" ethnic background. Real, funny, multi-layered, very well acted, insightfully written, nothing is forced, can't think of a single thing wrong with this film (except the title, which I don't get at all). A very rare 5 from me.
