Vegetarian
Lim Woo-seong 2009 | World Cinema Dramatic Competition, First Feature, Environmental
This film had moments of very good cinematography. That was its only redeeming quality in my opinion. Otherwise, the plot was preposterous and disjointed. Two large chunks of the movie are reminiscent of soft-core pornography movies that Cinemax is known for.

The Perfect Host
Nick Tomnay 2009 | Park City at Midnight, First Feature, World Premiere
Probably the most memorable film of this year's festival for me. David Hyde Pierce was exceptional in his role. This film was wickedly funny and really had me on the edge of my seat until the end.

Louis C.K.: Hilarious
Louis C.K. 2009 | Spotlight, Comedy, World Premiere
A very good stand-up act. It's clear that Louis has decided that he wants to see how far he can push the line between shocking/offensive and funny. Most of his bits are successful in being on the right side of that line. A couple were not, most notably the very last line of the act, which is just disgusting. In my opinion, he can be extremely funny without trying to shock people, so we'll see how he continues to evolve as a comedian.
